What character in a book can you connect with or relate to the most?

David Payne's Early from the Dance is just one of my favorite books, and I know part of that value comes from the way I have empathized with the various characters in the book at different points in my life: naive, lovely Jane; sensitive, depressed Cary; sensual Morgan; intense Cleanth; and troubled, yet trying, Adam. I have been and known all of these people and while I never lived the story set down in this book's pages, the emotional resonance of each situation is something I strongly identify with.
