Show us a picture of you from your childhood.
I checked David Allen's Getting Things Done out of the local library, but found two weeks was not enough time to take it all in and start to implement the systems recommended, so Thursday night after returning it I bought my own copy, as well as a stack of folders and label maker (DYMO LetraTag, for what it's worth).
Today, I'm starting the process by collecting all my stuff -- all the papers, doodads, knickknacks, postcards, flyers, etc -- that aren't in a proper place. Later today (hopefully), I'll start to process the stuff and implement a system which will organize my home office, eliminating the stacks of paper that currently drive everyone batty (except for the cats. the cats like the stacks for lying on and knocking over :).
There are many great resources online for this undertaking, so I'm not going to try to replace them in documenting my process, but I'm sure there will be some relating of my experiences here.
